Senior Transportation Program

Henry County Parks and Recreation provides transportation services to senior citizens, particularly those who reside in rural areas, that are residents of Henry County and are 60 years of age and older. Preference is given to elderly, transportation disadvantaged and disabled. Transportation for seniors is available on a first come, first serve basis to medical appointments, grocery shopping and occasional recreational trips. Please call 276-634-4644 at least two business days before the requested date of transportation.

Senior Cafe

Join us for entertainment, socializing and a good hot lunch. This program is for all income levels, so come and join the fun, food and fellowship. Open to all adults ages 60 and above.

Breakfast Club

The Breakfast Club is open to all adults ages 50 and above. The Breakfast Club is designed to be a fun and socially interactive way to enjoy breakfast and learn something of interest through a short informational program.

Crafting with Genie

Come and join Genie for a fun filled day of craft making.  Find out what crafts we will be making and reserve your space by calling us at (276) 634-4644. Each class has a maximum of 12 individuals.

Yoga

Join us every Monday morning for an hour of yoga. This class is designed to give you greater relaxation, energy and balance. You have to bring your own yoga mat and pre-register.

Bowling League

The Senior Bowling League is offered in the winter, spring and fall of each year. The league is designed to be fun and allow for seniors to get some exercise. Beginners as well as experienced bowlers are welcome.

Coffee with your Sheriff's Office

Come and share a cup of coffee and light refreshments with us and Sheriff Wayne Davis and his deputies. You can ask questions and provide feedback for the sheriff's office. 

Lunch and Bowling at Sportlanes

Come out to Sportlanes on the 3rd Thursday of each month for lunch and bowling. You get a BBQ Sandwich, slaw, chips and a beverage.  

Technology Classes

Various technology classes are held throughout the year that focus on such things as computers, iPhones, apps and other devices.

Line Dance Class

Instructor, Sue Ann Ehman, teaches all levels of line dancing to individual age 50 and older using your favorite Pop, Country, Oldies, Show Tunes music. It is not all country!

Monday Classes - Improver 5:30pm - 6:30pm / Intermediate 6:45pm - 7:45pm

Thursday Classes - Beginner Basics 5:30pm - 6:30pm / Beginner Plus 6:45pm - 7:45pm

Movie Day

An afternoon at the movies is planned on various days at local theatres.

Pickleball

Pickleball is a combination of tennis, badminton and table tennis. It was invented in 1965 as a children's backyard game. It is the fastest growing sport in the United States. This is the perfect game to combine cardio and eye coordination.  All levels of experience are welcome. This is a two or four person game, so try to bring a team or partner with you. This if offered on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:00am - 1:00pm.

Beginning Line Dance

Introductory line dance classes are offered on Thursdays throughout most of the year at the Henry County Recreation Center on Thursday.evenings.

Rook

Come join us for Rook! This is a fun card game that can help improve memory and hand/eye coordination. It is also a great way to socially interact with others.

First Fridays at the Lanes - Social

Join us the first Friday of each month to bowl from 9 to 11 am. Bowling is $1.00 per game and light refreshments are provided.

Dick and Willie Walks

We have an organized walk on the Dick and Willie Trail each Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9:15 am (weather permitting) and we meet at the Liberty St. Trailhead. The walk is about three miles and fairly easy.

Zumba

All senior ladies are invited to join Lisa in a fun and joyful Latin inspired fitness dancing class. Every lady will dance the hour away to inspiring contemporary Christian music. If traditional workouts are not the ideal thing for you, participating in Zumba will help you create a full body workout, improve coordination, assist in sparking your metabolism and burn calories. This is held on Tuesdays from 5:30pm - 6:30pm.

Bingo

The Bingo Club is open to all adults age 50 and over.  Our club is designed for seniors to have fun and enjoy being together and you may win some canned goods as prizes. It is played on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month at 12:00pm at the Henry County Recreation Center.
