Joshua Peal

Commonwealth's Attorney
Title: Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney

Joshua A. Peal was born and raised in the Henry and Patrick County area. Joshua attended Trinity Christian School and graduated as valedictorian. Following high school, Joshua enrolled in the Administration of Justice program at Patrick Henry Community College, and then, after receiving his associates, transferred to The University of Virginia’s College at Wise where he graduated receiving the Outstanding Graduate Award.

Joshua knew he wanted to pursue a career in law at young age and loved to watch shows like Law & Order.   In 2018, he received the opportunity to pursue his dream when he attended The T. C. Williams School of Law and graduated in 2021.

After graduating from law school, Joshua spent a year and six months as judicial law clerk for the Honorable Patrick R. Johnson in Buchanan County Circuit Court and as Director of the Buchanan County Drug Court Program.

When Joshua received the opportunity to become an Assistant Commonwealth Attorney in Henry County, he knew it was time to return to the community he grew up in and around and serve that community, which he has been doing since August of 2023.
