The County Administrator serves as the Chief Administrative Officer of the local government. In Henry County, the position also serves as the Manager of the Public Service Authority.
Dale Wagoner began his service as Henry County Administrator and PSA Manager on July 1, 2022. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Wagoner served Henry County in several roles, including Deputy County Administrator, Director of Public Safety, Deputy Director of Public Safety, Human Resources Coordinator, Emergency Medical Services Coordinator, and Emergency Medical Services Training Coordinator. He began his service with Henry County as a College Intern in 1992.
Mr. Wagoner is a graduate of Bassett High School and received his bachelor's degree from Ferrum College in 1993. He received his Master of Public Administration from Virginia Tech in 2002. Wagoner has also completed The Rocky Mount Program at the University of Colorado's Graduate School of Public Affairs, the L.E.A.D. program at the University of Virginia, and the LEAD Virginia Program. In addition, Mr. Wagoner is a credentialed manager by the International City/County Management Association (ICMA).
