Jury questionnaires are processed by a third party, EzJury. If mailing, your return address will be for Columbia, Maryland. THIS IS NOT A SCAM.


Jury Duty

A select number of Henry County residents are sent jury questionnaires every August to be completed and returned to the EzJury Processing Center in Columbia, Maryland. If you receive one of these, it is NOT a scam or a summons. These questionnaires will be used to build our jury pool for the following calendar year, and once you complete and return your questionnaire, no further action is needed.

Out of the annual jury pool, residents are randomly selected to serve on one of our six terms: January, March, May, July, September, or November. If selected, you will receive a packet of information, personally served by a Henry County Sheriff's Deputy, which will contain a jury handbook, a letter from Katherine Salgado—our Clerk of Court—and a summons with your dates of service.

If you have any conflicts or possible exclusions, you may go to the EzJury portal at jurorportal.com and submit an exclusion request. The judge will review your request and either approve or deny it. You will receive a text or email, provided you entered this information on your questionnaire, letting you know his decision. All medical requests will require a doctor’s note. You may also utilize the jury portal website to update your personal information and review your summoned dates.

During your term, you will receive notifications from the Clerk’s Office by text or email, provided you entered this information on your questionnaire, regarding the status of your jury dates. If a case is cancelled or settled without the need for the jury, you will receive a cancellation notice. If the case is still pending two days prior to your summoned date, you will receive a reminder notice.

You can call the jury hotline at 276-634-4895 after 5:00 pm the night before you are scheduled to appear to ensure your attendance is still required.

No cell phones are allowed, so please do not bring one with you. Please remember to bring a photo ID with you each day you are scheduled to appear. Each juror will receive $50.00 on the day of service regardless of whether they are selected to sit on the jury. Work excuses will be provided for those who appear.
