 Adult Protective Services offers a secure online portal for Virginians to quickly and confidentially file reports when they suspect abuse, neglect, or exploitation of an adult who is experiencing increased vulnerability due to isolation, cognitive decline, or dependence on others.

Whether you're traveling interstate, have recently moved, or are a long-time resident, knowing your specific state's gun laws is an important part of gun ownership. NRAILA.ORG provides information to help Virginians be better informed regarding their firearms, including a map of which states recognize the Virginia Concealed Carry Permit.

Virginia Judicial System Court Self-Help

The goal of the Virginia Judicial System Court Self-Help website is to make the courts of the Commonwealth more accessible for all citizens by providing neutral legal information as a public service, including glossaries of legal terms and instructions common processes. This site does not take the place of an attorney and cannot advise you on strategy or tell you what to say in court. 


Virginia Legal Aid

VALegalAid.org is a Virginia Partnership for Equal Justice Website Project. It is an attempt by Virginia legal aid offices and their partners to provide complete, accurate, up-to-date information on poverty law issues in an interactive and easily accessible format. The website offers information regarding multiple areas of law in Virginia and a plethora of “Do It Yourself” forms related to Virginia Law, including a free No Fault Divorce Worksheet. Toll free lines for Legal Aid are 888-799-3550 and 866-534-5243.

Note: There is a local Virginia Legal Aid office in Danville, VA that serves the cities of Danville and Martinsville as well as the counties of Henry, Patrick, and Pittsylvania. It can be reached via phone at 434-799-5739 or 434-455-3080 and is located at 519 Main St, Danville, VA 24541.

Virginia Lawyers Referral Service (Virginia State Bar website) can help you to arrange a 30-minute consultation for $35. The phone number is 800-552-7977.

Virginia Free Legal Answers

Virginia.freelegalanswers.org is a free service for Virginians who cannot afford a lawyer.  The site can be accessed from any device anywhere, even at your public library. There is no cost to you to post your question or to receive an answer.

Virginia Poverty Law Center

Virginia Poverty Law Center uses advocacy, education, and litigation to break down systemic barriers that keep low-income Virginians in the cycle of poverty. Their goal is to help Virginians understand and express their rights in areas such as domestic and sexual violence law, elder law, housing law, family law, public benefits, and consumer law. Henry County Law Library

The Henry County Law Library is located on the second floor of the Henry County Courthouse. You can visit the library from 9AM-5PM, Monday through Friday, for access to legal research through Lexis/Nexus, a legal resource website.

Henry County Deed Room

The Henry County Deed Room is in the Circuit Court Clerk’s Office of the Henry County Courthouse. You can visit the office from 9AM-5PM, Monday through Friday, for access to local public documents (including deeds, wills, maps, etc.) through physical records and COVERS, a recording database.

Circuit Court Deed Calculator

Virginia's Judicial System provides an online tool for Circuit Court Deed Calculation that is meant to help you plan ahead for fees prior to coming to the Clerk's Office with a deed or contract to record


Henry County Map Book

The Henry County Plat File Website provides access to all map books and their indexes as recorded in the Clerk's Office. These files can also be accessed in person by coming to the Henry County Deed Room.
